There’s no Planet B

No âmbito do tema «There’s no Planet B» e da articulação letiva com a professora polaca Malgorzata Florczyk, os alunos do 11ºD escreveram textos em inglês – poemas e prosa poética – com o intuito de refletir sobre o nosso impacto no planeta Terra.

Como pano de fundo para a escrita, os alunos tinham que ser voz de um dos quatro elementos naturais – ar, água, terra e fogo- e personificar, de entre as diferentes formas possíveis, um deles.

Para mantermos esta voz audível, publicaremos nas edições deste jornal até ao final do ano lectivo. As palavras entendam-nas como mensageiras de um apelo à vossa participação genuína com acções, aqui, na escola, em que cada um de nós diminua a sua pegada!

I am….

I am a flower, once vibrant and alive, but now damaged by the changing tides. The heat that once fed my growth now burns my petals and youth. I used to get up, looking out for the sun, but now I´m bent and broken, undone. The raindrops that once fed my thirst now burn and destroy my worth.

I´m just a symbol of the world´s decay, a victim of the choices we make today. The pollution and destruction inflicted are the thorns that prick and tear my stem. But even when I wither and disappear, I hope and pray for a better day, for even the smallest seed can flourish, given the chance to grow and renew itself.

I´m just a flower, but I am not alone in this struggle against the forces that have flown and though I may be damaged, I will not be destroyed, because I am a symbol of beauty to be praised. 

So let’s take care of the Earth and all its flowers, because if we don´t, in time there won’t be hours to see the beauty of the world and the flowers, and that would be a real tragedy.
